6,272 PointsTroubleshooting word_count
Just looking for some hints on why this code isn't correct, it runs fine in PyCharm but i keep getting the Bummer 'make sure you split on whitespace' or 'make sure you lowercased the words'.
# E.g. word_count("I do not like it Sam I Am") gets back a dictionary like:
# {'i': 2, 'do': 1, 'it': 1, 'sam': 1, 'like': 1, 'not': 1, 'am': 1}
# Lowercase the string to make it easier.
def word_count(string):
dict1 = {}
string1 = string.lower()
list1 = string1.split(' ')
for words in list1:
dict1[words] = list1.count(words)
return (dict1)

21,839 PointsHey!
Look at this:
list1 = string1.split(' ')
From what I understand, that split function delimits automatically on whitespace. Hopefully this helps. :)
