Trying to become a front end dev. Just started the track. Any tips or supplemental reading/practice I should consider?

Majored in Information Systems, Consequently I do not have a lot of programming knowledge. However, I have decided to work toward becoming a front end dev. This is something I am going to be working toward on top of my full time job.

I am a few hours in to the front end development track. If anyone has any practice tips, suggested reading, etc. feel free to leave a comment. I would be very appreciative. Thanks!

Don't just watch the videos covered on the given subject. Therefore, you should practice, practice, practice. That is what is going to help you tremendously. Create and/or work on projects, expand on the practice project in some of the courses the teachers provide you. Have an intrigued mind when it comes to how websites are built (surf the web and be inspired by how other developers created a website).

Thank you for the advice! I will keep this in mind as I move forward through the track.

Hey Jordan!

I completely agree with Jamie. I would suggest having something specific in mind, even roughly designed (even on a piece of paper). Commit to exactly what you said, and don't make changes based on limitations you feel you have. There is a way to do anything you want and all the information you need is at your fingertips. There's nothing you can do that can't be fixed and nothing you want to see that can't be accomplished!

I'm not one for inspirational quotes but this one has always stuck with me - I hope it does with you too

"If debugging is the process of removing bugs, then programming must be the process of putting them in." -- Dykstra's Observation

Feel free to reach out if there's something specific you come across that you'd like specific references for!

Best of luck!
