Unable to install Homebrew (no terminal password)

Hey guys. I finally got Ruby 10.7 (GCC) installed and finally got the second video working (How to install Ruby) on a new laptop running 10.10 and the latest Java and Flash Player with Safari (Firefox has big problems and comes through with HUGE icons for all keys, such as left/right arrow). Based on the other forums that I read...I go to install Homebrew at the terminal but it wants the password. I tried my admin password (the one i use to log into the computer with) and well as ENTER. It's still not accepting the password. Any suggestions on how to install Homebrew? Or, if I end up no installing home-brew, can I still get through the rest of the Ruby courses based on what is taught?

First, the Ruby Foundation is a very old course, it's being replaced by some of the newer Treehouse Ruby courses.

Second, now given that Ruby Foundation is an old course, some of the setup instruction it's giving you maybe outdated.

Third, if you're using OS X 10.10, it ship with Ruby version 2.0 as default, so there's really no need for you to install any extra stuffs to follow along with any Ruby courses on Treehouse.

OK. Sounds like I should skip Ruby Foundation. Should i instead take the new track called Learn Ruby and start with Ruby Basics (4 items) then? Also, will I need to download and install the large Xcode (I hear it's up to 750MB) in order to get through the new Ruby course? Just checking. Thanks. :)

No, for those Ruby basic courses, you shouldn't need to install Xcode.
