Hey Sharat,

You're supposed to assign the uppercase version of id to the variable userName. You also should be using the id variable name on the toUpperCase method. You're currently re-assigning lastName with the String "213188xtr#SMITH".

The challenge doesn't mention the # sign -- why is that added?

Thanks for posting the solution to this code challenge. I made the mistake of entering var userName = stringtoid.toUpperCase();

The Correct Code is:

var id = "23188xtr"; var lastName = "Smith";

var userName = id.toUpperCase();
