4,433 PointsUsing @classmethod
For some reasons I am getting RecursionErrors
class Letter:
def __init__(self, pattern=None):
self.pattern = pattern
def __iter__(self):
yield from self.pattern
def __str__(self):
output = []
for blip in self:
if blip == '.':
output.append('dot')
else:
output.append('dash')
return '-'.join(output)
@classmethod
def from_string(cls, pattern):
fix_me = Letter.from_string("dash-dot")
return str(fix_me)
class S(Letter):
def __init__(self):
pattern = ['.', '.', '.']
super().__init__(pattern)

Treehouse Moderator 68,457 PointsThe recursion is coming from the line:
fix_me = Letter.from_string("dash-dot")
Since it calls the method Letter.from_string
from within the method Letter.from_string
. This self reference causes a recursive call that loops until the recursion limit is reached.
