UX research vs Marketing research. Aren't they the same exact thing?

Watching the UX basics course has made me wonder about the value of UX, especially compared to Marketing research. Isn't UX research the same thing as Marketing research? In a related question, does a company use UX or Marketing to figure out what to build, tweak or discontinue?

UX research is about goal fulfillment for the user. Marketing research is about promoting the product. I think they work together. Marketing is about bringing users to the product or service. UX is about how a user further resonates with the product now that you captured their attention. Marketing is gaining attention, UX is maintaining that attention once you have it.

Marketing research is a broader area, UX would certainly be a part of it. Marketing would also cover aspects of the content being offered in addition to the user experience of the presentation.

I disagree. I think UX is the broader term and Market research is, as mentioned in this course, the content that you acquire.
