value is not being assigned to key in associative array

i am getting an error saying that there is no value assigned to the key of "title".

$movie[] = [

];

No need to create the array twice.

Did that work I thought its asking you to put the key in square brackets

   $movie["title"] ="The Empire Strikes Back";
