Your alert isn't inside of your script tags. It should look something similar to this:

<html>
<head>
  <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8">
  <title>JavaScript Basics</title>

</head>
<body>
  <script>
        alert("Warning!");
  </script>

</body>
</html>
