Python Python Basics Functions and Looping Create a Function

what am i doing wrong ?

squaring.py
def square(number) :
    return number * number
result = square ("3")
print(result)

Hi Sebastian,

It looks like you just have to simplify things a little bit. All you need to do here is return the result of the square. You can specify a parameter like "3" when you call the function later. Here the teacher is just looking for the definition of the calculation. Your code should look something like this:

def square(number) :
   result = number * number
   return result

In the second part, you can specify your parameter. Below the above code, simply write this:

result = square(3)

Cheers!
