What am I doing wrong? It is asking did I add the '#' symbol between id and lastName.

Please help.

app.js
var id = "23188xtr";
var lastName = "Smith";

var userName
id.toUpperCase(userName);
userName = id + '#' + lastName.toUpperCase(userName);

First of all, you need to add a semi-colon to the end of var username. Also, the examples I see of toUpperCase do not take a parameter. Perhaps this is what you need?

    id = id.toUpperCase();
    username = id + '#' + lastName.toUpperCase(userName);

Bummer! Did you add the '#' character between id and lastName?

var id = "23188xtr"; var lastName = "Smith";

var userName; userName = id.toUpperCase(); userName = id + '#' + lastName.toUpperCase();
