What am i missing here?

Select the <input> element with the ID linkName and store its value in the variable inputValue. (For a refresher on getting the value of a text input, watch this video from the previous section.)

const inputValue = document.querySelector('linkName')

app.js
const inputValue = document.querySelector('linkName')
index.html
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
    <head>
        <title>DOM Manipulation</title>
    </head>
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="style.css" />
    <body>
        <div id="content">
            <label>Link Name:</label>
            <input type="text" id="linkName">
            <a id="link" href="https://teamtreehouse.com"></a>
        </div>
        <script src="app.js"></script>
    </body>
</html>

Hey Michael, you're missing the "#" which is needed to target the linkName ID . Try this, which should return the HTML element:

const inputValue = document.querySelector('#linkName');

If you seek to get the value of the input, you can try this too:

const inputValue = document.querySelector('#linkName').value;

Hope that helps,

Camille

Hey Michael, when using document.querySelector, you have to specify if it's a class with ".", or "#" for id, like you do in CSS.

const inputValue = document.querySelector('#linkName');
