I thought i could select the element by tag name but it is telling me that 1 is no longer being passed through. why is that?
var fullName = document.getElementById("full_name");
var lastName = document.getElmentsByTagName("span")[1];
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head></head>
<body>
<h1 id="full_name"><span class="first_name">Andrew</span> <span class="last_name">Chalkley</span></h1>
<script src="app.js"></script>

You have a typo in your 2nd statement. getElments should be getElements.
var lastName = document.getElmentsByTagName("span")[1];
// Should be:
var lastName = document.getElementsByTagName("span")[1];
Hope this helps :)
