What do you mean by "If the current item's index 0 is the letter "a"" in this challenge

the challenge says to check if "If the current item's index 0 is the letter "a" then skip the item and continue to the next one" I do not understand the line "If the current item's index 0 is the letter "a"".

You were super close. The thing you misunderstood is the meaning of the "current item" which in your code is called "item". So you want to look at the first index of the item, not items.

def loopy(items):
    for item in items:
      if item[0] == "a":
        continue
      print(item)
