Python Python Basics (2015) Python Data Types Use .split() and .join()

What does it mean to "to replace the placeholder with the new string".

I think it wants me to put something in the .format() function, but I've tried everything I could think of, and I rewatched the video twice....

banana.py 
available = "banana split;hot fudge;cherry;malted;black and white"
sundaes= available.split(';')
menu= "Our available flavors are: {}.".format()
display_menu= sundaes.join(", ")

You're getting there. Just a few modifications. Join is a method of the string with an argument of a list. Format requires that you pass in the replacement.

available = "banana split;hot fudge;cherry;malted;black and white"
sundaes = available.split(';')
display_menu = ', '.join(sundaes)
menu = "Our available flavors are: {}.".format(display_menu)
