Hi Kumar,

I'm editing this per Jennifer's comments.

Sometimes it helps to read the question from the end. In challenge 1 you are assigning a value to userName variable.
userName = id.toUpperCase()

Challenge 2 is asking to add two other things. "#" and lastName in uppercase. var userName = id.toUpperCase() + "#" + lastName.toUpperCase();

In this case we are concatenating different variables/values.

var id = "23188xtr";
var lastName = "Smith";

var userName = id.toUpperCase() + "#" + lastName.toUpperCase();
