What is a metabox?

Hi there. If you are familiar with Javascript and OBJECTS in it, my best guess is that "Metabox" is some sort of Object, that does things that you want it to do. So in my opinion it is a custom build "box" of things. If you want/need to create a custom page, then you need to customize a Metabox that has those properties that you need. Hope it helps :)
