to make it simple there are two types markers....

  1. id
  2. class

both are same and are used to mark a particular area. for example: if u want to ,ark the header area then u give the things contained inside the header tag.. then with the header tag u also write id="ur choice." the id will last till area where the header tag is header id="xxxxxx"

/header

then in css file u can use this id to customize that portion
