What is the correct code for the max function? I keep getting an error.

Where did I go wrong?

script.js
function max(a, b) {
  if a > b {
    return a;
  }
  else if b > a {
    return b;
  }
    else {
      return "";
  }
}

Hey John Green,

your code is OK but you forget parantheses

  function max(a, b) {
  if (a > b) {
    return a;
  }
  else if (b > a) {
    return b;
  }
    else {
      return "";
  }
}

Great job! :thumbsup: All you need is to get rid of the "else"condition! Also, you can replace the "else if" condition with the "else" condition! :smiley: You should end up like this:

function max(a, b) {
  if (a > b) {
    return a
  } else {
    return b
  }
}

Hope that helps!

Also, Ashish Mehra is wrong. You don't need the parentheses but it sure does look nice with it, so I recommend stick with using parentheses.
