what is with that big red erroneous error message re forgetting a style tag. It works just fine.

For this exercise there should only be a body element, a h1 element, and a style element above the h1 element.

Otherwise, h1 tags don't ever belong in the head element. The head element is for styles, scripts, meta data, the page title, etc. A h1 would be better suited in a header tag inside the body.
