what is wrong with the challenge task of random function?
import random
secret_item=random.randint(0,(len(num)-1))
def random_item(num):
return(num)
# random_item("Treehouse")
# The randomly selected number is 4.
# The return value would be "h"

22,687 PointsHi Sonam,
The below code will allow you to pass this challenge:
import random
def random_item(number):
return number[random.randint(0, (len(number)- 1))]
The squared brackets will create a place for the randomly selected number to be the index of your chosen argument for e.g number[3].
Happy Coding!
