you should just be calling it as following. var player = 'Jasmine'.

Hey Jack,

you only have to put one pair of quotes around your string. Also you would only use a backslash when you want to escape a quotation mark inside of a string that uses the same kind of quotation mark. Besides that also take care that you write the exact same string the challenge wants you to write so in this case you have to write a capital "J" in the beginning of the name "Jasmine".

Like so:

var player = "Jasmine";
