Look at your css syntax closely. Those equal signs should be something else...

" " for the classes

class="social-links"

<!doctype html>
<html>
  <head>
    <title>List Example</title>
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="styles.css">
  </head>
  <body>

// You are missing quotes after your class. Class declarations are always class=" "
// Then put your social-links inside those quotes
    <a class= social-links href="#">Follow me on Twitter!</a>
    <a class= social-links href="#">Send me an Email!</a>

  </body>
</html>
/* css properties do not use an =  ... they use a  :  instead.*/
.social-links {
   padding: 15px;
   margin: 10px;
}
