What is wrong with this coding?

Its saying I haven't set the background size to 20px???

Hi there, I believe you'll need an associated background-image for the background-size to have any affect.

Hey James,

The task asked to set the background size to 20px square.

So your css for the background size needs to be:

background-size: 20px 20px;

Wouldn't that result in the same output as "background-size: 20px"?

No - from the css spec for background-size:

"The first value gives the width of the corresponding image, the second value its height. If only one value is given the second is assumed to be ‘auto’."

I totally didn't know it did that before just looking it up.
