What kind of computer should I get?

I'm a High School student and i'm looking to buy a new computer. What kind of computer should I get? I'm programming in the language of Java/Android. I'm not sure what I should be looking for in a computer. Hard drive space? Ram? Processor? I can't afford a Mac.

Generally the more RAM you have the better (8GB + is pretty standard nowadays) . Get the best processor you can afford. Hard drive space is not that critical. 500GB is more than enough really. So put most of your money towards Ram/Processor and dont worry too much about a big hard drive

I agree with Stone. Ram and a good processor. I have a 2 year old desktop with 12GB ram and an i7-3770 processor, and it does pretty well running PSD, AI, plus text editor and whatever else is running.

As a convenience I'd recommend a backlight keyboard if you can. My MacPro has one and I've fallen in love with it. I know there are PC computers with backlight keyboards too.
