Whatever I do it keeps failing on task 1

I cannot get the while loop to work, constant failure on task 1, which was only import random. I've use is not null,is not 0, != 0, back in task 1 it shows an error;'NoneType' object has no attribute 'format'. Any help appreciated

def even_odd(num):
    # If % 2 is 0, the number is even.
    # Since 0 is falsey, we have to invert it with not.
    return not num % 2
start = 5
while start is not null:
    num = random.randint(1,99)
    if  even_odd(num) == 0:
        print("{} is even!").format(num)
    else:
        print("{} is odd!").format(num)
start -= 1

You were trying to do too much. You also changed the code they gave you. This is how it should be for task 1:

import random

def even_odd(num):
    # If % 2 is 0, the number is even.
    # Since 0 is falsey, we have to invert it with not.
    return not num % 2
