var dieRoll = Math.floor( Math.random() * 6 ) + 1; alert('You rolled a ' dieRoll);

the problem is in your alert, each text block needs to be separated by a plus sign. therefore your alert should look like this.

alert('You rolled a ' + dieRoll);

and this will work

Yep, you just have to use the add operator.

var dieRoll = Math.floor( Math.random() * 6 ) + 1;
alert('You rolled a ' + dieRoll);
