When adding padding to my nav list, the items all shift out of place.

Before entering padding line everything is centered.

Hi Chad,

It sounds as though the padding it being added to the width and making the total width larger than required.

This CSS Tricks Padding article may help to explain what's happening, particularly under heading Padding and Element Width Calculations.

Thanks Rich, I understand the problem better, and why it is occurring. I unfortunately don't understand how to fix it.

No problem, I see you look to have found how to fix the issue but just in case I've misunderstood; under the heading Padding and Element Width Calculations is a sections which gives details on how to resolve with a link to box-sizing.
