When i run this and enter apples as the first item it shows the list but a blank list and my item isnt added

i run the code, enter apples, and it comes up with a blank list. like so...

Here's your list:

then if i enter apples again after that it will show up in position one. but THEN if i add oranges next it doesnt add to the list and just shows another prompt to enter another item. if i enter oranges again a second time it then adds APPLES to position 2 on the list. i am very confused as to why this would be happening
