When trying to complete task 2 I get the message: "Task 1 no longer passing"

In the Workspace I have tried the below:

var id = "23188xtr"; var lastName = "Smith";

var userName = id.toUpperCase()+(lastName.toUpperCase()); var userName = "#"+userName; console.log (userName);

This gives the following result in the Console in Chrome's developer tool:

"#23188XTRSMITH". It seems to work here.

However, when I try the same in the Challenge I get the message: "It looks slike Task 1 is no longer passing".

I would appreciate if someone could point me to what I doing wrong here. Thanks!

Hi Michael, this is what your code should look like.

var id = "23188xtr";

var lastName = "Smith";

var userName = id.toUpperCase()

userName += "#" + lastName.toUpperCase()

u can do it in the same line too var userName = id.toUpperCase()+"#" + lastName.toUpperCase();

You're close.

You just need to assemble your final string so that the "#" goes between the names, and not after them. Also, it's not necessary to enclose the call to lastName.toUpperCase() in parentheses.
