How to Install WordPress Locally for PC/Windows with XAMPP

thanks Jeff, this is probably the most "hands-off" approach!

The confusion might be coming from the fact that Zac focuses on Mamp in the videos. It certainly confused me at first.

Try this as a start: http://teamtreehouse.com/library/local-wordpress-development/local-wordpress-development/installing-a-local-web-server-on-a-pc

Then, when you think you are at the stage of creating a database. Run Xampp with administrator rights, start Apache and MySQL, then click on the MySQL admin button which will bring up the PHPmyadmin view. This is set up in the same way as it is in the Mamp videos despite it being on the Mac.

Stick with it, you'll have an aha moment!

hi, thanks a lot for the quick reply! That makes more sense for sure. i think i just needed to click around a little longer.
