where do I declare a function/variable?

Couldn't figure out why this code is throwing an error even after declaring them. Can someone please help me out?

errors.py 
print("Hello")
def name:
    "Akhila"

print(name)

print("Let's do some math!")
a = 5
print(5 + a)

print("Thanks for playing along!")

They are done different ways. The "def" keyword is used for declaring a function, but what you're doing is simply creating a variable. This is done just by assigning it:

name = "Akhila"

You could use a function, but that's overkill for this exercise. You'll learn more about functions soon as you progress in the course.
