There are two files in the challenge workspace. "index.html" where the HTML code is and a file called "shout.js" which is currently empty. It is inside the "shout.js" file that you are meant to type the alert code.

You can switch to that file by clicking on the "shout.js" tab that is found near the top of the challenge workspace.
