JavaScript JavaScript Basics (Retired) Creating Reusable Code with Functions Passing an Argument to a Function

why and I getting this error? "It looks like Task 1 is no longer passing."

I am in JavaScript Basics on challenge 2,

First step passes but second fails. I am not sure what I am doing wrong.

var echo = 'My agrument' + returnValue("hello");

Hello David, I found the answer. Needed to put the var echo outside of the function.

function returnValue(str) { return(str); } var echo = 'My argument' + returnValue('hello');

You need to call the function outside of the function. Like this.

function returnValue(str) { 
 return str
}

var echo = returnValue('My argument');
