Why can't I get the values to pass through this struct

I know it's something small that I'm missing like not passing the values through properly

structs.swift
struct Tag {
  let name: String
}

struct Post {
let title : String
let author : String
let tag : Tag

func description (title: title, author: author, tag: tag) -> String {
  return ("\(title) by \(author). Filed under \(tag)")
}
}

let firstPost = Post(title: "iOSDevelopment", author: "Apple", tag: Tag(name: "swift"))

let postDescription = firstPost.description

1 Answer

Hope this helps:

struct Tag {
    let name: String
}

struct Post {
    let title : String
    let author : String
    let tag : Tag
    func description () -> String {
        return ("\(title) by \(author). Filed under \(tag.name)")
    }
}

let firstPost = Post(title: "iOSDevelopment", author: "Apple", tag: Tag(name: "swift"))
firstPost.description()

Notes: In your method:

func description (title: title, author: author, tag: tag) -> String {
  return ("\(title) by \(author). Filed under \(tag)")
}

There isn't a need to pass the parameter arguments (title, author and tag) because they are available in the scope of the function.

When you are interpolating the string in your return statement 'tag' you need to reference the tag property of name tag.name

return ("\(title) by \(author). Filed under \(tag.name)")
