why does this not work??

not sure why this is not working

strings.py 
dicts = [
    {'name': 'Michelangelo',
     'food': 'PIZZA'},
    {'name': 'Garfield',
     'food': 'lasanga'},
    {'name': 'Walter',
     'food': 'pancakes'},
    {'name': 'Galactus',
     'food': 'worlds'}
]

string = "Hi, I'm {name} and I love to eat {food}!"

def string_factory(dicts,string):
  for item in dicts:
    list_thing[item] = string.format(**dicts[item])
  return list_thing

You're close. But you have a few issues yet:

  • remember to define your list_thing before you use it
  • remember that item will be a dict, not an index number
  • you can add to a list without using an index with .append()

I'll bet you can get it with just these hints. But if you're still stuck, here's how I did it:
