Why doesn't this pass?

I've tested my function locally, it works fine on both the example string, and other strings. What's wrong this time?

edit: I rewrote the code and made sure the first half gets lowercased, but to no avail. Locally, it works like a charm.

def sillycase(the_string):
    half = len(the_string) // 2
    return the_string[:half].lower() + the_string[-half-1:].upper()

Hiya Heidi! You are very close but you need to change return the_string[:half].lower() + the_string[-half-1:].upper() to return the_string[:half].lower() + the_string[half:].upper() . Just replace it and you are good to go. (:
