as the title says ,why should we make an category , wouldn't it be much simpler to just add that method to the original class ?

7,245 PointsI've had that same thought about certain classes and I guess the answer would be if the code improves the class in a generic way that you can reuse often thane a category is the way to go. If it's not generic then extending the class with a subclass is the better answer
