Full Stack JavaScript Techdegree Graduate 49,960 PointsYou can use any host you like (as long as they support wordpress). Zach, the teacher, owns web hosting for students so it's just a suggestion.
cPanel is a a type of control panel that a lot of hosts use. Another popular one is Plesk. They both do pretty much the same thing and have all the features you need to set up and run a wordpress site.
You can get a discount for web hosting for students and a few other hosts as a Treehouse member. Check out the perks page
