Python Python Basics (2015) Python Data Types List cleanup

why is del messy[1] not working ?

for deleting 2 which has the index 1 , why is del messy[1] not working ?

lists.py
messy = [5, 2, 8, 1, 3]
del messy[1]

To pass the challenge you have to leave the previous step intact. Even though it should delete the item at index 1, which is 2. It looks like you are missing the code from the previous step.

I just tried the same code challenge and it worked for me, I first did del messy[2] to delete the 8, and then for the last task I added another line with del messy[1]
