why is it failing?

Hey Imran,

There are just two minor errors.

  1. You have a dangling period after the float assignment. It should be 1.5 not 1.5.
  2. The Task asks you to display the results, but you are use the var_dump method. You need to be using echo if you want to display results to the screen.

Just correct those two things and you're good to go. :)
