Why is this asking me to add a list item with the word "portfolio in it?

Neil is correct, but the challenge also wants the words Capitalized.

portfolio needs to be Portfolio about needs to be About contact needs to be Contact

It's likely a an error with the Code Challenge. Your error actually occurs on your last unordered list item. You've made made a small typo and missed out the closing bracket ( > ) on the opening list item tag - that's all! Happens all the time.

<licontact</li>

should be:

<li>contact</li>
