it said not to add links yet so I didn't <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <meta charset="utf-8"> <title>Aidan Deitch | American</title> </head> <body> <header> <a href="index.html"> <h1>Aidan Deitch</h1> <h2>American</h2>
</a> <nav> <ul> <li><a href="index.html">Portfolio</a></li> <li><a href="about.html">About</a></li> <li><a href="contact.html">Contact</a></li> </ul> </nav> </header> <section> <p>GALLEREY WILL GO HERE</p> </section> <footer> <p>Ā© 2014 Aidan Deitch.</p> </footer>

</body> </html>

Hmm based on what you have provided I am assuming you are missing some tags? So here is a basic structure of a page.

<!DOCTYPE html>

         < head >
         < /head >
         < body >
                    < header >
                          < nav >
                                   < u l>
                                             < li >< a href="" >< /a >< /li >
                                             < li >< a href="" >< /a >< /li >
                                             < li >< a href="" >< /a >< /li >
                                             < li >< a href="" >< /a >< /li >
                                  < /ul >
                           < /nav >
                    < /header >
        < /body >
< /html >

notice I added how to do a list and how it should be done as a navigation

Hayden Taylor - if you add 3 backticks ( ) on the line before you write the code, with the syntax type (in this case``html ), and then again after (just backticks, no syntax name) it will show the code with the correct syntax highlighting.

Ack it won't let me edit correctly, it just posts new comments :D ! But what I was trying to say was:

If you add 3 backticks on the line before you write the code, with the syntax type (in this case 3 backticks and html ), and then again after (just backticks, no syntax name) it will show the code with the correct syntax highlighting. If you click the markdown cheatsheet it will show you exactly how to do it.
