Ruby Ruby Collections Ruby Hashes Ruby Hash Creation

why isn't this working for me?

I'm not sure why it is saying that task 1 isn't passing.

hash.rb
grocery_item_1 = Hash.new
{ "name" => "milk"}

Hello isaacpollock,

You have a mixture of syntax to accomplish this. If you were to create the hash using Hash.new, you could add the name key like this.

grocery_item_1 = Hash.new()
grocery_item_1['name'] = 'milk'

If you wanted to use brackets as the initial hash value, you could do this

grocery_item_1 = { 'name' => 'milk' }

I hope this helps.

Thanks soo much!
