why it doesn't work?

however, I wrote everything how it would be said, the task couldn't be accomplished.

banana.py 
available = "banana split;hot fudge;cherry;malted;black and white"

sundaes=available.split(";")


menu= "Our available flavors are : {}.".format(sundaes)


display_menu=sundaes.join(", ")

menu="Our available flavors are : {}.".format(display_menu)

You're not using .join() correctly.

available = "banana split;hot fudge;cherry;malted;black and white"
sundaes = available.split(";")
menu = "Our available flavors are: {}."
display_menu = ", ".join(sundaes)
menu = menu.format(display_menu)

# or do it in few steps like this

available = "banana split;hot fudge;cherry;malted;black and white"
sundaes = available.split(";")
menu = "Our available flavors are: {}.".format(", ".join(sundaes))
