Why name the function parameter prods?

I don't understand why the parameter is named prods when the name of the object is 'products'.

Parameter names can be anything at al, but it's "good practice" to name them something that relates to what they are used for. It's also very common to abbreviate parameter names to keep the code compact. But it's not necessary for the name to exactly match, and it could actually be less clear if the parameter could be confused with the object itself while reading the code.
