Why set up two shapes?

Why does Ashley Burke use two shapes to set up the markers? Would it not be sufficient to set up only one 100px wide shape that serves as the margin? I don't understand why she adds the 50px padding shape with the same color.

Hi Jacob, It does seem like setting up the 100px wide shape on both sides would be sufficient, if necessary. A quick way to do that is to select the rectangle tool, then double click. You can enter the dimensions, right away. It looks like the logo is the only layer that is 50 px from each side, which can be sized in the transform panel.
