why the following code not working if(($username) and ($role!='admin')){....}

it says that the code is not checking whether $role is not equal to 'admin'

index.php
<?php
$username = 'sketchings';
//Available roles: author, editor, admin
$role = 'editor';

//add conditional statement
echo "You do not have access to this page. Please contact your administratior.";

Yes indeed it seems you haven't started this task. the task ask you to add if statement which checks for "admin". Without changing the variables, create a SINGLE conditional statement around the echo command that checks: That a $username is set. The users $role is NOT admin

This works for me!

<?php
$username = 'sketchings';
//Available roles: author, editor, admin
$role = 'editor';

//add conditional statement

if (isset($username) && $role != 'admin') {
    echo "You do not have access to this page. Please contact your administratior.";
}
?>

<?php $username = 'sketchings'; //Available roles: author, editor, admin $role = 'editor';

//add conditional statement if (isset($username) && $role != 'admin') { echo "You do not have access to this page. Please contact your administrator."; } ?>
