PHP PHP Basics Daily Exercise Program Conditionals

Why won't the program work I am comparing the two conditionals correctly and checking two conditions at once? either.

<?php $studentOneName = 'Dave'; $studentOneGPA = 3.8;

$studentTwoName = 'Treasure'; $studentTwoGPA = 4.0;

//Place your code below this comment //$GPA = 4.0; if ($studentOneGPA === 4.0) //|| $studentTwoGPA == 4.0) { echo "$studentOneName made the Honor Rolls\n"; // echo "$studentTwoName made the Honor Rolls";

} else { echo "$studentOneName has a $studentOneGPA of $studentTwoGPA\n"; // echo "$studentTwoName has a GPA of $studentTwoGPA";

}

//Place your code below this comment if ($studentTwoGPA === 4.0) //|| $studentTwoGPA == 4.0) { echo "$studentTwoName made the Honor Rolls\n"; // echo "$studentTwoName made the Honor Rolls";

} else { echo "$studentTwoName has a $studentTwoGPA of $studentGPA\n"; // echo "$studentTwoName has a GPA of $studentTwoGPA";

}

?>

Although I have tried different things this one seems to be a drag!

I've re-formatted your answer as it might help you spot what was wrong:

$GPA = 4.0;
if ($studentOneGPA === 4.0)
    //|| $studentTwoGPA == 4.0) {
    echo "$studentOneName made the Honor Rolls\n";
    // echo "$studentTwoName made the Honor Rolls";
} else {
   echo "$studentOneName has a $studentOneGPA of $studentTwoGPA\n";
// echo "$studentTwoName has a GPA of $studentTwoGPA";
}

if ($studentTwoGPA === 4.0)
    //|| $studentTwoGPA == 4.0) {
   echo "$studentTwoName made the Honor Rolls\n";
    // echo "$studentTwoName made the Honor Rolls";
} else {
    echo "$studentTwoName has a $studentTwoGPA of $studentGPA\n";
    // echo "$studentTwoName has a GPA of $studentTwoGPA";
}

In your initial IF statement of both studentOne and studentTwo, you've commented // out the rest of the line - but this included the opening brace of the IF statement {

You also don't need to declare $GPA = 4.0; unless you want to use it in your code and replace the 4.0 with $GPA, as in

if($studentOneGPA==$GPA) {

A correct answer is:

if($studentOneGPA==4.0) {
  echo "$studentOneName made the Honor Roll\n";
} else {
  echo "$studentOneName has a GPA of $studentOneGPA\n";
}
if($studentTwoGPA==4.0) {
  echo "$studentTwoName made the Honor Roll\n";
} else {
  echo "$studentTwoName has a GPA of $studentTwoGPA\n";
}
