Windows or Linux alternatives to Garageband

Has anyone got any suggestions for alternatives to Garageband on Mac, for making game music? From what I can tell its only available on Mac.

Thanks in advance.

If you have an iPad, there's a stripped down Garageband app that's really great. Audacity is a free music editor available for all platforms, but doesn't have a solid loops library or built in music clips. Most PC alternatives like Reason, Ableton, or Protools are amazing, but will set you back a pretty penny.

Try looking up alternativeTo. It lists alternatives to programs based on user recommendation. You can also view comments, reviews, etc.

Linux multi media studio is one. They also make it for windows.

I don't know anything about making music. I just know a lot of people seem to like lmms.

Thanks for your replies guys. I'll give a few of those alternatives a go try and leave some feedback.
