Firstly, what is the Internet of Things or
IoT?

The Internet of Things is described as
physical objects that have embedded

sensors, software, and electronics
that are connected to the Internet.

Data is collected by or
sent to the devices.

Internet of Things devices can connect
to the Internet in a couple of ways.

Directly via WiFi or
Ethernet connected to a router, or

IoT devices can connect through a gateway
device like a smartphone via Bluetooth.

There are other wireless technologies too,
like Zigbee and Z-Wave,

where devices connect to so-called hubs,

examples of IoT devices.

be controlled remotely via an app.
